For the sixth year in a row, the Goldfarb Foundation is able to offer an online version of the Review and Recertification Courses. You can take the full 31.25 CE Contact Hour Review Course or the 13.25 CE Contact Hour Recertification Course online. Using a Flash based web-program that can run on either a PC or a Mac, online meeting attendees are able to sit at home or in their office and watch the online lectures in real-time as they are happening in Philadelphia. Save on airfare and hotel costs by staying at home and prepare for your certification or recertification exam.
FAQs
What is the difference between the online course and classroom course?
The main difference between the two courses is where you are. The classroom attendees will be viewing the lectures from the Marriott Hotel at the Philadelphia Airport and the online attendees will be viewing them on their computers via a high-speed Internet connection from their home or office.
The other noticeable difference between the two courses is that those who register for the online course can not participate in the Mock Orals. You must attend the classroom course in order to participate in the Mock Orals.
What do the online lectures look like?
To see what the online lectures look like, click here for a chance to view the Dermatology lecture from the 2008 Review Course. Lectures for the 2010 course will appear in a similar format.

What am I required to have/do to participate in the online courses?
High speed Internet connection (no WiFi or satellite)
A PC or Mac running the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (can be dowloaded for free here) with working sound/audio
How do I know if my computer will work during the meeting?
The Goldfarb Foundation has hired Digital Samba to operate the online portion of the Review & Recertification Course. Approximately 2-3 weeks before the start of the course, you will receive an e-mail from Digital Samba letting you know of 2 test days. You can select which test day you would prefer to participate in based upon which is more convenient for you. You will receive an e-mail from Digital Samba with a link in it; on the test day and time, simply click on the link in the e-mail which will connect you to the appropriate website. The meeting coordinator from Digital Samba will run through several tests, including audio and video to make sure that everyone can see and hear him. A faux presentation will be given using PowerPoint to make sure that you are able to view the slides properly. The test should take approximately 15 minutes.
What if my computer won't work during the online meeting?
If your Internet connection goes down or won't connect during the meeting, you will need to contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for assistance.
If your computer encounters issues during the meeting, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer for technical help.
Digital Samba will have a help line available but they will not be able to assist you with problems you encounter unless they are directly related to OnSync.
How are the credits calculated for the online courses?
The administrative interface of OnSync will determine the number of CE Contact Hours earned based upon the number of hours you are logged into the online course. The hours are tallied at the end of the meeting and a certificate is sent to you stating the number of hours that you earned.
Breaks & meal times are built into the classroom meeting and as an online meeting participant, you are encouraged to follow the same schedule.
How do I know if the online course is right for me?
Each person studies differently. If you are the type of person who needs structure to their studying and is easily distracted, you might find the classroom version more suited to your study style. However, if you can sit down in front of a computer to study and can ignore distractions, the online course might be just what you're looking for.
Why is the online course more expensive than the classroom version?
Actually, in the end, the online version is most likely less expensive than the classroom version. If you add in airfare or gas to get to Philly, plus several nights at the hotel and food, you will most likely find out that it is cheaper to take the online course.
